GUYSSSS – It is has been so long since I’ve blogged. As we all know, this year as been… rough. 2020 has really been putting us through it. The world has felt the effects of COVID-19, and it’s definitely been something we’ve all been trying so hard to get to the other side of.
I’ve been mostly at home, really only venturing out for doctor’s appointments, and maybe the grocery store once or twice. It’s definitely a huge concern of mine to make sure I’ve been doing my part to keep myself, my family, and anyone around me safe. However, things have been slowly but surely opening back up.
I have finally done my first shoot since the lockdown began, and honestly, it was the absolute best shoot I could’ve done to get my feet wet again, and really re-spark my passion ahead of wedding season.
Mikayla & Ryan – boy, I could write a book on how much I love these two. So, backstory; I met these two almost 2 years ago at a Starbucks when they inquired with me to photograph their wedding. We immediately clicked. We did their engagement session at Eagle Creek, which was pure magic. Their love radiated and made the session so much fun. Fast forward to last August, their big day had finally arrived. It was my first wedding shooting after my baby was born. Mikayla & Ryan had the most perfect day I could’ve imagined, and I was so sad when it was all over.
Fast even more forward to December 2019, they reached out to me to do a quick fun little shoot. We met up at a local park. When I got out of my car and started getting my gear ready, I distinctly remember Mikayla saying “Hey – you’ll have to show us how to pose with these props we have.” I looked over, saw her letter board, and it instantly took my breath away. Mikayla & Ryan were expecting their first baby. When I tell you it took me EVERYTHING to not start totally crying in front of them, I mean it. I was so shocked, and so overjoyed. These two perfect humans were having a baby, and I got to be the lucky one to photograph their announcement.
Well, tonight we had Mikayla’s maternity shoot at Coxhall Gardens. She was truly, one of the most gorgeous pregnant women I have ever seen. She absolutely radiated. The sun perfectly fell behind her hair and down her shoulders, creating such a stunning glow that had me smiling from ear-to-ear when editing the pictures.
So few people get to capture two people fall in love, get married, and start their family. I truly hope I’m able to continue capturing their beautiful story, and their beautiful family.
