I finally got the chance to do my first family portraits! Luckily, they were with the coolest family in the world, the Smedley family. Their last family pictures were taken over the summer during Jen’s wedding, but they haven’t had any dedicated family portraits taken in years. Since they added a new member to the family, David, and little Sara is much older now, it was time to update those pictures! I spent my Saturday in Salem with them, and we started off at Kristin (Jen’s sister) and Derrick’s (Kristin’s husband) house. We went out to the backyard where they have a perfect backdrop.

Sara was too cute, playing a quick game of peek-a-boo with the fence, and I got some adorable shots of her with their fur baby, Ryker. After this session, we headed to a different part of Salem called Pioneer Village. This area had a really cool 1800’s vibe to it, with small log cabin buildings, lot of stone work, and a train!

After we got some great shots at Pioneer Village, we headed back to the Smedley family house and changed, and then took some pictures in front of their home. We quickly churned those out, and then headed on over to Lake Salinda. The sun was starting to set, so we got some beautiful golden lighting, which made for some really unique pictures.

I had the best time shooting this family, and I’m so happy I got to spend the day/evening with them. Thank you for being patient with me, and being such an awesome family.
